What a way to start a year!

January 5, 2009 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment

This little lady came to see me from a loooooong ways away. She’s here visiting her grandma and Aunt Rhohrieee (Laurie) and they thought it would be fun to have some pictures taken. Did we have fun? Oh yes. How can you not have fun when fluffy skirts, lollipops, and balloons are involved?!

One of my personal favorites. Doesn’t she look like she’s dreaming something up?

What a fantastic way to start 2009! Miss P, you were wonderful! I can’t wait for you to come back and visit again!

More cuteness coming soon,

A Little Reflection

January 2, 2009 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Well, here it is a new year. Is 2008 really gone already? I guess it’s time to crawl out of my holiday-break-hole and address 2009! To all of my customers from this last year (and all of my friends that have let me practice before) THANK YOU SO MUCH. Without the interest and kind words of my clients and people visiting my blog and site, I would never have pursued photography as a career. I look forward to 2009 as being a progressive and positive year. Thanks again for your continued support and may this new year be remarkable and full of joy for all of you!

Happy New Year from the Bjerke Bunch!

Hey! Anyone seen any cute kids around here?

December 9, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I have! Here’s a smattering of the fun I’ve had lately…

Remember when it wasn’t, like, four degrees and snowy? Me, too. I got to do pictures with these two before it was ‘icicles hang off camera’ type weather. We had fun…and they were very tolerant of their mother and I driving all over town saying “just one more spot, K?”

Then, I got to play with these two…who are old friends. We go waaaay back…well, as far back as you can go with two toddlers. You know, I seem to remember the session we did before the little guy could escape walk being a little easier. Funny, how that works out, huh?

Now, I coulda kept these sisters. Sweetest things ever. Little sis came over and plopped right down on my lap whenever we took a break from picture taking and big sis had me talking like we were BFF.

See? I was NOT kidding about the cute kid thing…huh?

Now, I saved the most “AWWWW” for last. This little lady was only a week old when we met. I think at our session she may have been a whopping six pounds. Yes, you read that right. SIX.

Go ahead and squeal. It’s to be expected when there are itty bitty babies lookin’ like this on your monitor.

I promise once this crazy holiday rush is over, I’ll update my website and blog more often…pinky swear!!

Mary Kids!

November 22, 2008 | Filed Under wedding | 3 Comments

One day last summer, my BFF, Molly, called me and said “Hey, what are you doing September 20th?”

“Nothin” I replied.

The stars lined up and suddenly, I was meeting with Laurie, Tim(iny) and Mar to discuss photographing a wedding.

After I met the ‘girls’ for the first time, I turned to Molls and said “they seem like the kind of friends that would help you get rid of the body.” She agreed. The more I get to know them, the more I think it’s not a joke.

Check out the window in the front of the church. A-mazing. Not to mention, the fact this church is LOADED with marble. It was beautiful!

It was a gorgeous day and we escaped to the park across the street for some less formal portraits.

THEN, it was party time. Emphasis on the party. Here are the boys serenading Laurie. They were, uhhh, errr, really good. I can’t believe this picture is even remotely in focus because I was laughing so. very. hard.

Thanks for being so patient, guys, your galleries are on their way!

A Doll, A Duo & A Deadline…

November 14, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Okay, so I got my bad blogger plaque in the mail today…he he…and decided I should probably update this bad boy.

The end of October I went to a photography workshop in Arizona. It was FAB and here is one of the gorgeous models I got to shoot.

A doll, right?!

Here’s a set of brothers I had the pleasure of photographing…I’m pretty sure they thought I was lame-o, but I had fun with them anyhow.

When we take pictures at their farm, we like to try to get the cows in on the action.

And lastly, the dreaded HOLIDAY DEADLINES (du-du-duuuuuuuuh)! If you want to schedule a session with me for holiday images, get on the horn and let’s set it up! I have room for only a few more because I am setting a FIRM DEADLINE of November 26!  If you are planning on ordering images from a gallery that has already been posted, you have until November 27 to get your orders to me so we have time to take care of any issues with your orders before the holidays. These deadlines are to ensure I’m not a monster to my family as the holiday season grows nearer. ;o) I want to enjoy this fabulous season with my family and can’t do it from my computer! Thanks for understanding!

Arranged Marriages

…if they were legal, I’d totally be signing my youngest daughter up with this little guy. He is a DOLL.

Every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man:

Maybe his mom will sign a contract with me…she’d be pretty fun to be mom-in-laws with…?

More pics soon…I’ve been a busy gal! Also coming: holiday season cut-off dates…get your appointments made, folks!

Old Friends and New Friends

October 20, 2008 | Filed Under babies, family, kids, natural light, studio | 1 Comment

So a few years ago when I decided to try this whole picture-taker thing out, I offered to practice on these boys. I’ve been taking their photos ever since. Their parents have been supportive and encouraging throughout my journey…and how do I repay them? Caramel apples in an alley, of COURSE!

Seriously, so cute!

Next up is my new friend. I’ve known his mommy…or at least his Uncle Danny…for a looooooong time. It was a pleasure to meet his acquaintance and spend the afternoon with him. He snoozed and smiled just the right amount for us.

This sweater was mom’s idea. It turned out so darn cute, I might have to invest in some to keep on hand for newborn shoots!

Just in case you didn’t notice, his little hat says happy boy in the last one. So perfect!

More soon!

The Bookends

I had the pleasure of photographing the eldest and youngest of a family of (ready? wait for it…) NINE. That’s just kids…mom and dad push them into double digit family status. The big guy is graduating this year and his baby sis just turned two. Seriously, both are so well mannered and did whatever I asked them to. It was a nice change from my two year old that just screeches at me while throwing toys at my head. (sigh)

Enjoy your sneak peek, guys…

Can I also add that Miss A does the cutest rendition of Pop Goes The Weasel while doing sofa acrobatics I’ve ever seen?! I can’t wait to hear what song she learns next.

A Nice Way To Spend A Sunday Afternoon

October 13, 2008 | Filed Under family, kids, natural light | Leave a Comment

This family was fun…and far easier than I expected. I was ‘ready’ for a large group plus three kids, two being toddler twins. My mental prep work was totally unnecessary! They were a JOY to photograph.

So, here’s what I think happened. The universe was eavesdropping on a conversation that Kate’s parents had about having another baby. The universe then said to itself, “you know, that first one is so gorgeous, let’s give them a two for one deal on their next pregnancy.” And guess what…twins that are JUST AS GORGEOUS!

I had fun, guys! Everyone needs a good leaf fight on a lazy Sunday afternoon!

Tim & Julie Sit-tin’ in a Tree…

October 10, 2008 | Filed Under engagement, natural light | Leave a Comment

My friend, Julie, is getting married. I can’t begin to tell you how exciting it’s been for the rest of us girlfriends that ‘wish we could redo our weddings’ to take over poor Julie’s plans err, uhh, HELP Julie plan her big day.

I guess that post title is kind of literal, since we spent their session outside…and I actually made them sit in some trees. Well, tipped over trees.

Here are a few of my faves:

And without a doubt, my favorite from the session:

Do you see the look on her face? I think my heart just grew two sizes.
